CODE OF CONDUCT

San Francisco Swim LLC, (SF Swim) Code of Conduct Policy:

Thank you for joining us at San Francisco Swim. Our aim is to provide a safe and supportive community for all swimmers. We uphold the following code of conduct to ensure that everyone feels respected, valued, and included.

    1. Safety first: SF Swim prioritizes safety above all else. As a participant, observe safety measures set by the coaches and swim support.  A swim briefing and skill level routes will be provided by a lead coach. Please adjust accordingly, staying within designated swimming area and be prepared for adjustments made based on the conditions. Verbal or physical abuse of SF Swim staff, coaches, or water support will not be tolerated.
    2. Respect for fellow swimmers: Treat all members with respect and dignity, regardless of their skill level, gender, age, race, religion, or sexual orientation. SF Swim provides an all-inclusive environment and accepts all different viewpoints. Language or behavior that could be interpreted as derogatory or discriminatory will not be accepted. Sexual Harassment: verbal, nonverbal, physical and/or online, will not be tolerated.
    3. Honesty and transparency: SF Swim wants all members to be honest in their interactions with fellow swimmers, particularly with sharing their physical and medical conditions that could affect their swimming ability. Sometimes, adjustments should and need to be made to provide a safe swimming environment for all. SF Swim encourages transparency and will adjust accordingly. Swim safe and smart!
    4. Responsible use of the swimming grounds: There is no housekeeping here! Make sure to clean up after yourself and do not leave trash or refuse behind. Gear and equipment… sometimes that happens. SF Swim is not responsible for forgotten equipment, however, will collect left-behind items and return them if possible.
    5. Positive reinforcement: SF Swim celebrates each other’s successes and achievements and provides constructive feedback and encouragement. Let’s be a positive and supportive environment!
  • Disruptive behavior: SF Swim is grateful to everyone that joins us in their swimming journey. However, we require our swimmers to refrain from engaging in any behavior that may cause harm, distress, or discomfort to others, or that interferes with our operations or activities. Everyone’s time is valuable and should be treated as such.
  1. Swimming equipment: Don’t forget your gear! Goggles and swimsuits are standard. We will provide a brightly colored swim cap for visibility and identification. Swimmers do have some equipment choices based on their comfort level: neoprene cap, earplugs, swim fins, swimmer buoy, neoprene wetsuit along with neoprene gloves and booties. Every swimmer does their thing and can adjust.

USE OF HEADPHONES or SWIMMING EARBUDS will not be allowed. Open water swimming is dynamic and requires awareness. San Francisco Swim is committed to providing a safe swimming environment and these items can interfere with communication while swimming in the open water.

Any member determined to have violated this code of conduct policy may face a disapproving glance, a stern talking to, a request to go home, and finally, a request to find another outlet for open water swimming. San Francisco Swim reserves the right to refuse service to individuals that display behaviors that may endanger others or the swimming environment.
